Low Mach Number Flows and Combustion
We prove uniform existence results for the full Navier-Stokes equations for time intervals which are independent of the Mach number, the Reynolds number and the Péclet number. We consider general equations of state and we give an application for the low Mach number limit combustion problem introduced by Majda in [18].
متن کاملA discontinuous Galerkin method for inviscid low Mach number flows
10 In this work we extend the high-order Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) Finite element 11 method to inviscid low Mach number flows. The method here presented is designed 12 to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the solution at low Mach numbers using 13 both explicit and implicit schemes for the temporal discretization of the compress14 ible Euler equations. The algorithm is based on a classica...
متن کاملA numerical method for the simulation of low Mach number liquid-gas flows
This work is devoted to the numerical simulation of liquid-gas flows. The liquid phase is considered as incompressible, while the gas phase is treated as compressible in the low Mach number approximation. A single fluid two pressure model is developed and the front tracking method is used to track the interface. Navier-Stokes equations coupled with that of temperature are solved in the whole co...
متن کاملLow Mach Number Limit for Viscous Compressible Flows
In this survey paper, we are concerned with the zero Mach number limit for compressible viscous flows. For the sake of (mathematical) simplicity, we restrict ourselves to the case of barotropic fluids and we assume that the flow evolves in the whole space or satisfies periodic boundary conditions. We focus on the case of ill-prepared data. Hence highly oscillating acoustic waves are likely to p...
متن کاملAdaptive hp-Finite Element Method for Low Mach Number Flows
Flow configurations in the low-Mach number regime usually lead locally to large gradients in the velocity field as well as in the temperature variable. Such structures including boundary layers are typical in the study of e.g. heat transfer problems or more generally in situations where compression effects are mainly due to thermodynamical effects (see e.g. [1]). We propose a method based on hp...
